Cycling Mission for the Trike and Cruiser

I am on a mission to find trails and pathways so my daughter and I can ride our bikes together. She rides on a recumbent adult tricycle or trike while I enjoy a cruiser. Trikes are a great alternative to a traditional two-wheeled bicycle for anyone who has balance, joint, or muscle issues. Trikes enable adults who can’t ride a two-wheeler to get out there on the paths and roads to enjoy cycling, whether leisure or competitive. But really, trikes can be an excellent alternative for everyone.

Here is a set of criteria we are currently using to find the best recumbent trike and cruiser trails and paths for us:

  1. It can’t be too technical – not looking for a lot of roots and rocks
  2. Rolling hills are ok
  3. A few minor ascents are good for now
  4. We need wide paved paths or trails that fit the width of the trike and allows for safe passing while sharing the trails with others
  5. The location can be in our local area and beyond

We’ll eventually work our way to steeper climbs and the roadways in due time.

Besides us finding these paths for ourselves, we hope our search will be helpful to you and encourage everyone to get out there and enjoy cycling no matter how many wheels you ride on.
